How is this done?
The process includes 8-12 steps from start to finish. We use state of the art polishing (environmentally safe) machinery. Diamond Discs are mounted on a Grinder. These rough grits remove any floor imperfections and flatten the concrete surface simultaneously. The finger grits in the machinery create the marble like glossy shine.
No chemicals or waxes are used. Polished concrete is a mechanical grinding and polishing process that utilizes industrial diamonds and impregnating hardeners and sealers to grind down surfaces to the desired degree of shine and smoothness. The addition of a densifier during the process chemically hardens the concrete. This system will densify, polish and seal the floor.

What happens during the process of polishing concrete?
The floor is being flattened. Impurities in the concrete are removed. The floor becomes more dense. Lippage, uneven slabs, imperfections will be resolved. Densifiers are added.

Hardening
During the process a hardener is applied which penetrates up to 5 - 7mm depending on surface tension. It stops dust, wearing, the concrete paste around the aggregate from being removed and aids in the closing off process.

How long will the polish/shine last?
Our concrete polishing process is permanent. When our process is done your results are bare concrete floor that has been permanently polished. In heavy traffic floors mild re-polishing may be needed 7- 10 years down the road at fraction of the initial cost- .50 cents per square foot.

Is any maintenance is required?
Only routine mopping with water and neutral cleaner- for lighter dirt/ stains. Use of a heavy duty cleaner for grease or serious stains. Both neutral and heavy duty cleaners have a neutral ph level which is safe to use on concrete sealed floors. CFF recommends a simple maintenance program of occasional dusting to remove grit and damp mopping with a neutral cleaner to enhance the shine. Some manufacturers sell special cleaners and conditioners for polished concrete that not only clean the surface, but also leave behind a dirt-resistant film. These products can be applied with a mop or auto scrubber and do not require buffing. You can find these products at Home Depot or Orco stores.
With basic cleaning, polished concrete will keep its luster for years.
